²⁷ Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus to the common hall, and gathered to him the whole company of soldiers. ²⁸ And they stripped him and put on him a purple robe, ²⁹ and plaited a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand. And they bowed their knees before him and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
